Brubaker, practicing physician, in North Manchester, for 40 years, at one time had an office in Burlington, died Saturday, January 21st., at the Prairie View Rest Home at Warsaw. He suffered a stroke last May 28 and had been a patient in the rest home since that time. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon of last week at the Church of the Brethren In North Manchester. Burial was made in Oaklawn cemetery there. Ora George Brubaker, a son of George and Mary Hamilton Brubaker, was born in western Howard county May 11, 1875. He attended Mount Morris, Ill, College and after teaching several years, entered Rush Medical College, now a part of the University pf Chicago, where he graduated in 1906. He was first married to Alice Mae Stitzel, of Lanark, Ill, on Sept 4, 1900. She died March 11, 1904. Three children were born, Homer Estell, deceased; Dr. Harold S. Brubaker, Huntington; and Mrs. Alice Blake, R. N., Indianapolis. On July 26,1905, he married Cora Mae Cripe, of Cerro Gordo, Ill. Their children are Leland Brubaker, Sturgis, Mich.; Mrs. Lowell Erbaugh, Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Winifred Lloyd, Park Forest, Ill. Also surviving besides the widow, are a sister. Miss Ida Brubaker, of the Peabody Memorial Home, North Manchester; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Dr. Brubaker’s 55 continuous years’ service in the practice of medicine began in 1906 at Mount Morris and continued in Burlington. Dr. Brubaker was active in the Wabash County Medical Society, served as secretary-treasurer of the 11th Indiana Medical Councilor District for 23 years and was also president of the Indiana State Academy of Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat. He was also active in church work, serving as teacher, Sunday School superintendent and deacon, and in the national men’s work of the Church of the Brethren, serving as president for one term. He was also the oldest living member, of the North Manchester Rotary Club and was active in many of its committees. Flora Hoosier Democrat February 9, 1961
