Read More	**Handwritten: KEO REP 7 MAY 1936 Mrs. Wilbur Pender Ora Beggs, daughter of Robert and Etta Beggs, was born Dec. 26, 1887 near Pittsburg, Iowa. Of the seven children of this family who grew to maturity she was the only daughter. When she was only fourteen the father was taken from the family. She grew up in the neighborhood of Pittsburg, coming to Bonaparte at the time of her marriage to Wilbur Pender, which occurred Aug. 13, 1923 and since that time has made this place her home. She was interested in the affairs of the community and enjoyed the association with friends and neighbors. She was a member of the Sunshine Society of the Presbyterian Church, and of the local unite of the Royal Neighbors of America. She was converted to Christianity during a residence at Keosauqua and became a member of the Christian Church of that place. She passed away at St. Joseph's hospital in Ottumwa on April 23, 1936 aged 48 years, after a brief illness caused by mastoid and complications. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Wilbur, and her two children, Halsey and Pauline. Also her mother, Mrs. J.J. Beggs, of Keosauqua; her daughter-in-law, Florence, of Bonaparte; six brothers and two half brothers, Lea, of Ottumwa; Harlan, of Birmingham; Otis, of Bonaparte; Craig, of Winterset; Dwight, of St. Louis; Creighton, of Fairfield; Hollis, of Cantril; and Hazen, of Keosauqua; all of whom were with her during her last illness. Her brief life was one of usefulness and unselfish devotion, and she was called home from a work well done. Funeral services were held at Bonaparte Presbyterian Church Friday, April 24 at 2 p.m. in charge of Rev. R.G. Alexander. Burial was made at Pittsburg cemetery. Source: Van Buren Co.
