Orange A. Blue was a son of John M. (1823-1887)and Mary Blue, age 32 years, of Lapeer County, Michigan. Per the 1860 US Census, Orange was b.1848 in Michigan, and his brother, George, was 2 yrs. older, b.1846; his brother, Elmer, was 2 yrs. younger, b.1850, his brother, John, was 4 yrs. younger, b.1852, his brother, Addison, was 8 yrs. younger, b.1856, and his brother, Mark W., was 10 yrs. younger, b.1858. Having lived in Iowa for a time, his father, John Blue, returned to Lapeer County, Michigan, where his own father, John Blue (Senior) was living, and died there in 1887. Orange was married to Eliza J. Sorden on June 30th, 1871. His brother, George Washington Blue (1846-1924), had married Rachel A. Harger (b.in 1848, in PA.) on Oct 1st, 1867. George and Rachel were blessed with a daughter who was born on Jun 23rd, 1869. They named her Luna M. Blue. Sadly, little Luna died on March 22nd, 1870 at their home in Iowa County, Iowa. She was buried at the Yankee Point Cemetery. She was only 9 months and 29 days of age when she died. Her uncle, Orange A. Blue, passed on Nov 20th, 1872* (per Wiki Tree). He was buried at the same cemetery. What became of Orange's wife, Eliza (Sorden) Blue, and Luna's parents, George W. and Rachel (Harger) Blue, is not known at this time. They have not been found in the Find A Grave system yet, although his father, John Blue, has a memorial (see family member link), as does his grandfather. His grandparents were John (1794-1877) and Catherine (Booth) (1793-1851) Blue. [The last name, Blue, is not necessarily Scottish in origin, may be Dutch, French or German; originally was "Blawenburg" or "Blaw", going back 8 or more generations.] ************************************************************ Most of the information I obtained until now was due to the research of Patricia Butler who has been researching the Yankee Point Cemetery for quite some time and contacted me on Mar 5, 2013. I also appreciate the creator of this memorial, Evy, transferring this memorial to me of her own volition. I have now received information regarding Luna Blue's father, George Washington Blue, from the creator of his memorial, Bobbi Keefe Rollins Johnson. He is buried at Liberty Cemetery, Manton, Wexford Co., Michigan, and his memorial #169150763 was created earlier today. Thank you so much to Bobbi for the edit establishing the location of young Luna's father and creating his memorial. I have some information I can add to his memorial giving more exact birth and death information, courtesy of the edit button. After rereading the memorial for Orange Blue, Luna Blue's uncle and the brother of George Washington Blue, I have come to believe that Orange Blue may have died in November of 1873 as opposed to November, 1872. It also makes more sense with regards to establishing him as the father of his son, Orange Blue, Jr., who lived from 1873 to 1874. *His year of death is being amended today, August 31st, 2016.

I've found your father's 1860 Census, when you were only 12 years old. This means that you passed away at the age of about 24. Such a young man, too young to leave this life. Rest in Peace.
