Description	:	Orange Fuller Dorrance was born in Starke county, Illinois, on August 28, 1838, and died at the home of his daughter, Florence McCandless in Perry, Oklahoma, on January --, 1924. Mr. Dorrance was graduated from the Chicago School of Law in ----, and shortly thereafter moved to Montezuma, Iowa, where he engaged in the practice of law until the beginning of the Civil war. Read More	Orange Fuller Dorrance was born in Starke county, Illinois, on August 28, 1838, and died at the home of his daughter, Florence McCandless in Perry, Oklahoma, on January --, 1924. Mr. Dorrance was graduated from the Chicago School of Law in ----, and shortly thereafter moved to Montezuma, Iowa, where he engaged in the practice of law until the beginning of the Civil war. He enlisted in Company C, 28th Iowa Reg. Vol. Inf., and was in the service until the close of the war. He had steady promotion and when discharged held Captain's commission. After the war, Mr. Dorrance moved to Brooklyn where he engaged in the mercantile business until in the early eighties when he purchased an interest in the bank now known as the Poweshiek County Savings Bank. He was actively identified with that bank until 1898 when he removed to Pipestone, Minn., where he had banking interests. He retained an interest in the Brooklyn Bank until 1909. He had a very active career in business and during the past twenty-five years has resided in Texas and Missouri, where he had business interests. Mr. Dorrance united with the Methodist Episcopal church in Brooklyn in 1877, and has always been a very active and devoted member of the church. He was for many years Sunday School superintendent. He was a member of the Masonic and G.A.R. organizations. He exemplified in his daily life and conduct the tenets of his Christian faith. Mr. Dorrance was married to Frances Anne Conaway on November 18, 1869. To this union were born six children all of whom are now living: Eva D. Rainsburg of Kansas City, Mo., Mary E. Roderick and Florence McCandless of Perry, Okla., Ada F. Moore of Kansas City, Mo., Nina D. Kern of Portland, Ore., and Freeman L. Dorrance of Great Falls, Mont. Mrs. Dorrance died May 17, 1923. Besides the children, Mr. Dorrance leaves surviving him, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. W. J. Fowler officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, Corinthian Lodge No. 174 A.F. & A.M. having charge of the burial services. Poweshiek Obituaries
