Description	:	Oren Francis Roe, the seventh child of James and Mary Roe, was born April 28, 1853, at Manchester, Iowa. Of this family, the mother, father and six brothers and sisters preceded him to the great beyond, leaving two brothers, John H. of Bedford, Iowa and Milo F. of Fort Morgan, Colorado; two sisters, Annie C. Crow of Rock Ford, Colorado, and Mary Cowea of Fort Morgan, Colorado. Read More	Oren Francis Roe, the seventh child of James and Mary Roe, was born April 28, 1853, at Manchester, Iowa. Of this family, the mother, father and six brothers and sisters preceded him to the great beyond, leaving two brothers, John H. of Bedford, Iowa and Milo F. of Fort Morgan, Colorado; two sisters, Annie C. Crow of Rock Ford, Colorado, and Mary Cowea of Fort Morgan, Colorado. As a child he came to Kansas with his parents who homesteaded near Emporia, and saw Kansas develop from the days of Indians to the present time. While a young man he drove a stage to Denver and carried mail horseback through Independent, Arkansas City and down into Texas. Om September 1882, he was married to Jennie Perry at Erie, Kansas. To this union was born six children, five of whom survive. They are Fred E. Roe of Parsons, Kansas, Ole F. of Belleville, Kansas, Carrie M. of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Joe H. of Kinsley, Kansas, Albert H. of Manhattan, Kansas. One daughter died in infancy. His wife died in February 1892. In the autumn of 1895 he was married to Mattie A. Himmelwright at Erie, Kansas, and to this union was born one daughter, Gladys Cordelia of Wilmant, Oregon. Until 1905, with his family, he resided at Erie, Kansas, where he was engaged in farming. In the autumn of 1905 he moved to a farm north of Waldo, Kansas in Osborne County. Since July of the present year he made his home with his son, Joe H. Roe, at Kinsley, where he passed away November 18, 1927, after a long and painful illness. These last months were borne with all the patience and fortitude to be expected of one who had learned his life lessons in the hard school of the pioneer days of early Kansas. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 20 in the M. E. church at Waldo, conducted by Rev. Johnson of the M. E. church. Burial was made in the Grand Centre cemetery.
