Description	:	The subject of this sketch, Orin B., only son of Luther and Mary J. Miner, was born near Rock, Kan., March 23, 1881. Here he lived with his parents until about 3 years of age. At this time he was bereft of his mother, who passed away in 1884. He moved with his father and two sisters near Emporia, Kan., where they remained until he was about 5 years old. Read More	The subject of this sketch, Orin B., only son of Luther and Mary J. Miner, was born near Rock, Kan., March 23, 1881. Here he lived with his parents until about 3 years of age. At this time he was bereft of his mother, who passed away in 1884. He moved with his father and two sisters near Emporia, Kan., where they remained until he was about 5 years old. They then moved to Vernon, IA., where they remained until the death of their father, who was killed by the caving in of a well in 1889. After the death of his father Orin made his home with his Uncle Horace for 3 years. He then came to his Uncle Frank's to make his home. Here he remained until 1904, when he went to near Leavensworth, Kan., from which place he entered in the U. S. Regulars Army in 1905. He served under the colors for nearly 5 years. During his enlistment he spent two years in the Philippines, and while there he spent about 6 weeks each year in Manilla. He was honoable discharged from service in 1910 at the place of his enlistment. He visited there a few days and in and around Cottonwood, Kan., then took the train to Bonaparte, Ia. It was on his way here that he first learned of the death of his Uncle Frank. From this time on he had lived with his sister Ettie and Aunt Ollie on a farm on Vernon Prairie. In 1924 he was stricken with some disease which injured his mentality and was taken to Macon City, Mo., for treatment. Here he remained for 6 weeks with little or no improvement. It was then thought best to remove him to our State Institution at Mt. Pleasant. After a time he appeared to make marked improvement and his friends and relatives had much hope for his recovery but it seemed this was not to be. About 5 weeks ago he became much disturbed and since had gradually grown worse until he passed away, Saturday, Nov. 7, 1925. He leaves to mourn his departure two sisters: Ettie at home and Mrs. Lou Kimmel of Keosauqua, Ia.; Aunt Ollie at home; Uncle Charles Miner of Bonaparte; several nephews and nieces, a host of friends and neighbors. He was a member of Bonaparte Camp No. 1449, M. W. A. Thus briefly is outlined a life of a true friend, a good neighbor, a kind and loving brother. His loved ones find comfort in the fact that he confessed Christ in earlier days, and they wish to add their thanks. ____________________ We wish to thank our neighbors and friends for their sympathy in our sad bereavement.
