Description	:	Orin Orlando Ward born 15 February 1872 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, was one of 7 children of Mahlon James WARD and Francis Emily ROBERTS. He married 25 October 1890 in Springfield, Greene co., Missouri, Elizabeth (Lizzie) FIELDS, the daughter of William Russell FIELDS and Mary DELAWDER. He and Lizzie WARD had seven sons and a daughter, Nellie who died at age three. Orin died December 24, 1949, at the Erickson Home of Brookings, SD, after suffered a light stroke which proved fatal, at age 77. He was buried in the family lot at Greenwood Cemetery, Brookings, SD.... He farmed near white and Brookings for twenty years, then moved to Brookings where his wife, Lizzie died December 6, 1928. Following her death, he lived alone until in 1946 when, due to impaired hearing and sight, he could no longer be alone and went to the Erickson Home. Orin's niece, Mrs William (Pearl) THOMPSON of DeSmet (daughter of Zophar WARD) came to Brookings for the his funeral. ORIN'S SEVEN SONS: * Donald Duane WARD died young about 1900 in Springfield, Missouri. * Orville O. WARD died tragically 8 Sep. 1941 in Brookings at age 34 after being beaten and found unconscious. * Kenneth R. WARD divorced and it is believed that he died August 10, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN at age 45 and was buried in Dale / Rice Cemetery, Roseville, Ramsey county, MN * Harry WARD died tragically in an auto accident Sept. 13, 1952 in Colton, Minnehaha co, SD at age 40. * William "Walter" Ward lived at the VA Medical Center in Ft Meade, SD from age 52, for 15 years until he died there Oct 17, 1960 at age 67. * James "Earl" WARD died Jan. 1, 1968 in Brookings, SD at age 71. * Theodore WARD died November 1983 in Missoula, Montana at age 80, the husband of Lillian. ORIN'S SIBLINGS: * Zophar John WARD died 25 May 1929 in SD * George Allen WARD was living in Osseo, Wisconsin in 1929. * Anthony, Daniel and Chancey's death dates are unknown. * Mrs. Harry (Emily Anne WARD) McKNIGHT died April 17, 1943 in Brookings, SD at age 67.
