Garner was a flagman for the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Pacific railroad. The accident occurred when an automobile, driven by Rev. Henry Otten, pastor of Redeemer Lutheran church, struck Garner while he was flagging traffic at the grade crossing. Rev. Mr. Otten applied the brakes of his car to prevent it from crashing into a box car. The automobile skidded sideways and struck Garner. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Trinity Lutheran church, with Rev. A. B. Schwertz officiating. The burial site has not been selected. Garner, a lifelong resident of the Sioux City territory, was born in Dakota county, Neb., and lived there until three years ago when he came to Sioux City. Besides his widow, Garner is survived by two sons, Kenneth and Howard, both of Sioux City. The body is at the Larkin funeral home, pending completion of funeral arrangements.
