| Description | : | Orlando Sumter was a son of Senator Cheadle Cochran & Catherine Brown. Orlando S. Cochran enlisted as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 35th Regiment of Georgia Volunteers, Company C, ‘Campbell Rangers’ on 16 September 1861. Promoted to Captain on 26 June 1862. He was wounded in the Battle of Mechanicsville (also known as Battle of Beaver Dam Creek), 26 June 1862. Resigned, disabled by wounds, 10 Jun 1863.
