Orlin "Ole" Maynard Gedstad was born on a farm southeast of Lennox, SD on Aug. 18, 1926, the son of Oscar K. and Marie (Nelson) Gedstad. He attended Hill Rural School District #82 and grew up there. He served in the US Army during World War II. When he returned home he continued farming on the home farm. On Oct. 12, 1984 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Moerke at Faith Presbyterian Church in Lennox. They made their home on the home farm their entire married life. Preceding him in death were his father on Jun. 9, 1970; his mother on May 2, 1986; his brother, Kalerd Gedstad on Oct. 12, 1988 and his sister, Doris Rippentrop, on Aug. 30, 1993. Orlin died suddenly of an apparent heart attack on Friday evening, Jun. 29, 2001 at his farm home southeast of Lennox, where he had lived his entire life. He attained the age of 74 years, ten months and 11 days. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Dorothy; his sister, Bernice Buus, and her husband, Sam, of Lennox; his sister-in-law, Verna Gedstad, of Canton; his mother-in-law, Jennie Moerke, of Lennox.
