He was born Sept. 24, 1925 in Red Cloud, Neb. He retired from working in the machine shop at Freightliner in 1987. Mr. Fentress liked fishing and hunting and helping his neighbors. He also worked on ceramics with his wife, Gerry. Other survivors include two daughters, Debra Conley of Brush Prairie and Judy Hayes of Troutdale, Ore.; two sons, O.W. Fentress Jr. of Portland and Don Gilkison of Oregon City; one brother, Forrest of Springfield, Ore.; two sisters, Bethel Eden and Florence Hathorn, both of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. A graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Kaiser Hospice, 2701 N.W. Vaughn St., Portland, OR 97210; or the American Cancer Society, Vancouver, WA 98666.
