Description	:	Bedford Times-Press Thursday July 1, 1943 Miss Orpha Payton Orpha Ellen Payton, daughter of William and Mary [Ann Hamilton] Payton, was born at Woodhull, Ill., March 23, 1860, and departed this life at Clarinda, Iowa, June 22nd, 1943, at the age of 83 years, two months, and 29 days. She spent her childhood days in her native state and there grew to young womanhood, and there received her early schooling. She spent her childhood days in her native state and there grew to young womanhood, and there received her early schooling. About the year of 1880 she, with her parents, came to southwestern Iowa where she has, in the main, since resided. In early life Miss Payton did dressmaking in Clarinda. Her long and active residence here endeared her to many warm and lasting friends throughout a life of service in Clarinda and Page County. She was the last of a family of twelve children. She leaves to mourn her passing a number of nieces and nephews as well as more distant relatives and a host of old time friends who will miss her. Funeral services were at the Pruitt-Bracken Funeral Home Thursday afternoon, June 24, at 2 o'clock. Dr. A. B. Thutt of Tarkio, Mo., officiated.
