Description	:	Orril L. Vermeer, 95 years of age, of Tecumseh formerly of Sterling died at Belle Terrace in Tecumseh on Wednesday afternoon, May 3, 2006. He was born on June 9, 1910 near Bennet and moved with his family to Sterling in 1918. He graduated from Sterling High school and attended Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln for two years. Vermeer, 95 years of age, of Tecumseh formerly of Sterling died at Belle Terrace in Tecumseh on Wednesday afternoon, May 3, 2006. He was born on June 9, 1910 near Bennet and moved with his family to Sterling in 1918. He graduated from Sterling High school and attended Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln for two years. He married Ruth Cox on April 19, 1933 and they lived and farmed south of Sterling until moving to town in 1976. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Sterling and had held all church offices. He was a charter member of the Sterling Improvement Association and was also a member of the Clinic Board. He enjoyed traveling and watching sports. Survivors include two daughters, Mavis Brinkman of Lincoln, Nebraska and Carol VanDeWalle and her husband Paul of Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. Three sons, John Vermeer and his wife Wanda of Glenwood, Arkansas, LaVerne Vermeer and his wife Betty and David Vermeer and his wife Janet all of Sterling, Nebraska. Daughter-in-law, Carol Vermeer of Lincoln, Nebraska. 19 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Two sisters-in-law, Genevieve Ellis and her husband Harold of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Ruth Cox of Cortland, Kansas. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Minnie Zink Vermeer, his wife Ruth who died on August 18, 2005, his son, Lynn who died on March 4, 2006, one son-in-law, Marlin Brinkman, one granddaughter, Cynthia Brinkman Landenberger, an infant grandson, Stephen Vermeer, an infant granddaughter, Paula VanDeWalle, an infant great-granddaughter, Tessa Ruth VanDeWalle and one sister, Vida Curtis. Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at the United Methodist Church of Sterling, Nebraska with Rev. Evie Gulachi-Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Sterling Cemetery of Sterling, Nebraska. A family prayer service for the immediate family will be held at 1:15 P.M. in the church basement. A memorial has been established to the United Methodist Church of Sterling, Nebraska with the Zink-Fox Funeral Home in charge. The body will lie in state at the Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling, Nebraska on Friday and Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Sunday at the church one hour preceding the services.
