The body was recovered about 15 minutes later but efforts to resuscitate him failed. Orsson and his mother had been employed for some time in the Libly, McNeil & Libly cannery at The Dalles. Orsson Thomas was about 19 years of age and was liked by all. Hundreds of friends, including his school mates, paid their parting respects Monday by attending the funeral at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Thomas. In the death of Orsson Thomas, the community has lost one of its best and most promising young men, and his parents and brother have the sympathy of the entire community.
