He worked on the family farm until... Read More	Orval Niederbaumer, 89, of Faulkton, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the Faulkton Healthcare Center. Funeral services were Monday, June 25, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wecota. Burial followed at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Wecota. Orval was born April 16, 1923 in rural Wecota, South Dakota to Emil and Clara (Holscher) Niederbaumer. He was baptized, confirmed and married in Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wecota where he was a lifelong member. He grew up and went to school in Cresbard and graduated from high school in 1941. He worked on the family farm until he went into the army serving during WWII in the Philippines and Japan. He was married for 63 years to Avis Schilder of Norbeck. They farmed on several farms before buying their own located two miles north of Faulkton in 1954. To this union, five children were born: David, Curtis, Cindy, Dean and Phillip who died at birth. Orval served his Lord and community by being there when anyone needed help. He was a great sports fan and followed his children in their activities. He loved playing golf and cards, especially bridge. Orval and Avis spent the past 28 winters in Arizona where they lived in their small community of close friends. They were members of Christ Greenfield Church and later the Hosanna Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Avis of Faulkton; four children, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren: David (Kerry) Niederbaumer of Huron and their children: Kristi White, Jesse (Jamie) Niederbaumer and son, Tyler, Matt (Cindy) Niederbaumer and children, Belle and Jonah; Curtis (Coreen) Niederbaumer of Brooklyn Park, MN and their children, Jody (Dan) Mycka and Ryan Niederbaumer; Cindy (Gary) Nelson of Rapid City and daughter, Chrystal Nelson; and Dean (Jane) Niederbaumer of Aberdeen and their children: Michael (Anngette) Niederbaumer and children, Owen and Olivia, Paul (Lea) Niederbaumer and children, Thomas and Cody, and Sara Niederbaumer; two sisters, Lyla Niederbaumer of Chicago, IL and Elda Leisten of Kenosha, WI. Proceeding him in death were his parents; son, Phillip; and sister, Myrtis Flesner.
