He was born September 13, 1915, in Springfield, Oregon, to William Howard and Bessie A. (Metcalf) Cox. He lived and farmed in the Hornick area all his life. Read More	Orval Kenneth Cox, 76, of Hornick, Iowa, died Monday, December 23, 1991, at Maple Heights Nursing Home, Mapleton, Iowa. He was born September 13, 1915, in Springfield, Oregon, to William Howard and Bessie A. (Metcalf) Cox. He lived and farmed in the Hornick area all his life. He attended Brown County School and graduated from Hornick High School in 1932. On September 7, 1937, he married Katherine Gambs at Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She died October 2, 1991, in Sioux City. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hornick. He served on the Hornick Farmers Co-op Elevator board and the Holly Springs-Hornick and Westwood School boards. Survivors include: 4 daughters and their husbands, Kay and Gary Gesaman of Norwalk, Linda and Richard Gallagher of Manhattan, Kansas, Marcia and David Ahlrichs of Rockwell City, and Marilyn and Maurice Byers of Hornick; 1 sister, Mrs. Wylma Hobbs of Hornick; 5 grandsons, Greg and his wife, Brenda Gesaman, Joel and his wife Lesley Gesaman, Jason Gallagher, and Troy Byers and Tim Byers; 2 granddaughters, Leanne Gallagher and Rebecca Byers; 1 foster granddaughter, Jodi Callahan; and 1 great-granddaughter, Kara Gesaman. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Mervin. Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM Friday, December 27, 1991, at the United Methodist Church, Hornick, Iowa, with Rev. Karen Dearchs officiating. The organist, Mrs. Robert Madsen, played, “Holy, Holy, Holy”, “In The Garden”, and “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”. Casket bearers were grandchildren, Troy Byers, Rebecca Byers, Tim Byers, Greg Gesaman, Joel Gesaman, Leanne Gallagher, and Jason Gallagher. Interment was in Little Sioux Township Cemetery, Smithland, Iowa, with arrangements by Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
