Description	:	Orvill W. Nash, 99, of Plentywood and formerly Redstone, died June 27, 2019 at the Sheridan Memorial Nursing home just months short of 100 trips around the sun. Orvill Warren Nash was born November 30, 1919 near Lisbon, North Dakota, the 3rd of 4 children born to Warren and Albertina Nash. Nash, 99, of Plentywood and formerly Redstone, died June 27, 2019 at the Sheridan Memorial Nursing home just months short of 100 trips around the sun. Orvill Warren Nash was born November 30, 1919 near Lisbon, North Dakota, the 3rd of 4 children born to Warren and Albertina Nash. Orvill was 4 years old when the family moved by immigrant train car to the Redstone/Daleview area to farm and ranch. He attended schools at Daleview, Redstone, Whitetail, Outlook, Kevin and graduated from Kalispell High School at 16 years of age in 1936. The Nashes owned a small parcel of timber near Kalispell where Orvill and his younger brother, Willard, cut ties and firewood for sale locally. Orvill entered the Army Air Corp. in 1942 and was appointed Aviation Cadet. Because of a medical condition induced from accidently doubling the vaccines for Yellow Fever, he was hospitalized with a brain hemorrhage and convulsions for a number of weeks in a Denver hospital. His parents were advised that Orvill’s recovery was doubtful. However, he survived and was medically discharged from military service in 1943. After returning to Redstone, he and Josie Jensen of Archer , MT were married on May 13, 1944. They just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary this past May 13th. Four children were born to this union: Karen , Linda, Trish and Steve. Orvill earned his pilot’s license after completing flying lessons from Thor Thorstenson. He became an avid pilot and loved flying his Cessna 180 on weekends with the family , and on business trips to various places. He earned his Sea Plane rating in Seattle in the 1960’s. In 1946 Orvill and his brother, Willard, started Nash Brothers by opening the old Motor Inn Garage in Redstone which included an implement business and repair shop. It burned down in 1947. In 1948 they extended their farming operation to the Four Buttes area. In 1950 Nash Brothers Garage re-opened in Redstone. That business expanded and thrived for over 50 years. Orvill was the happiest when he was selling machinery and making deals. He was well known in the area for carrying his lunch pail and thermos of milk while out visiting with local farmers and ranchers. Nash Brothers owned and operated Nash Brothers Feed and Grain of Scobey, and eventually added a lumber yard to it. A feedlot for cattle was also operated near Scobey by the Nash Brothers. Orvill was an avid and active member of the Daniels County Museum organization. He owned and operated an antique Case steam engine, and had acquired a High Pressure Boiler license. His knowledge of 20th century steam engines, tractors and combines was exceptional. Orvill was the past president of ABLE, an organization of local people making an effort to save the Opheim-Bainville Railroad branch line. His success as a machinery salesman earned him numerous trips to various parts of the world including South America, England, Mexico, Hawaii and Europe. He loved to travel. Orvill was also listed in the Who’s Who in the West 1970-71 edition acknowledging many of his accomplishments. He was on numerous local and county boards, including 13 years on the Sheridan Memorial Hospital board during which time the new hospital was built. In 1958 he ran for the Montana State Senate, but was defeated. He was a lifetime member of the Redstone United Methodist Church. Other activities that Orvill enjoyed were hunting, fishing and golfing. He loved music and loved to dance. He was respected as a business man and member of the community. Orvill was a positive and persevering man, whatever the job might be. Twenty-one years ago Orvill and Josie were involved in a devastating car accident that nearly took their lives. With determination and faith they went on to recover . However, as a result of the injuries he sustained, his overall health gradually declined. He entered Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home 5 and a half years ago where he resided until his death on June 27, 2019. Orvill was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and their husbands, and one brother and his wife. Also preceding him were 4 sons-in-law: Bill Settle, Randy Mock, Mike Wollan and Larry Meyers. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Josie Nash; daughters Karen Wollan, Linda Meyers and Trisha Mock-Radons; and one son, Steve Nash , all of Sheridan County. 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren also survive Orvill.
