Description	:	Orville A. Waltner was born at home in rural Freeman, South Dakota, March 17, 1926, the son of Adolph L and Julia (Kaufman) Waltner. He died in Freeman, South Dakota on May 1, 2015 at the age of 89 years. On October 13, 1940 he was baptized by Rev. P.H. Schroeder and was a lifelong member of the Salem Mennonite Church, rural Freeman, Orville received his elementary education at Diamond Valley District #56, rural Freeman. Waltner was born at home in rural Freeman, South Dakota, March 17, 1926, the son of Adolph L and Julia (Kaufman) Waltner. He died in Freeman, South Dakota on May 1, 2015 at the age of 89 years. On October 13, 1940 he was baptized by Rev. P.H. Schroeder and was a lifelong member of the Salem Mennonite Church, rural Freeman, Orville received his elementary education at Diamond Valley District #56, rural Freeman. He continued his education at Freeman Academy, Freeman Jr. College before graduating from Bethel College, N. Newton, Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts degree on May 30, 1950. On September 1, 1956 he and Audrey Preheim were married by Rev. Russell Mast at the Salem-Zion Mennonite Church, rural Freeman. They joyfully shared 50 years of marriage until her death on June 3, 2006. In 1957, Orville went to work for Clifford Preheim’s Telephone and Electric Service. Orville took over the electrical contracting phase of the business in 1965 under the name of Valley Electric Service. He retired in 1987. He had many passions in life: photography, history, reading and vintage machines are only a few. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and sister Lynette (Waltner) Krehbiel. Grateful for having shared his life are: two nephews Kenneth Krehbiel and his wife Kathryn Loomans, Washington, DC.; Keith Krehbiel and his wife Amy and daughters Emily and Sara, Stanford, CA; brother-in-law Lonnie Preheim and his wife Dorothy, Freeman, SD and two nieces Lonna (Preheim) Beshai and her husband Emad and daughters Hanna and Katrina, Sioux Falls, SD; Sheila (Preheim) McCrahan and her husband Samuel and daughter Julia, Mesa, AZ; special friend Donna Preheim, Freeman, SD and co-worker and friend Ted Pidde, Jr., Freeman, SD; and many other friends and relatives.
