Mr. Darrow was a lineman for the Electric Utility Co. in Topeka, and then in Los Angeles. He later was the city electrical inspector for Salina, and he managed motels until he retired in 1992. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Junction City, the son of Orville Darrow and Opal Jackson. He graduated from high school in Topeka. Mr. Darrow was a lineman for the Electric Utility Co. in Topeka, and then in Los Angeles. He later was the city electrical inspector for Salina, and he managed motels until he retired in 1992. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Junction City, the son of Orville Darrow and Opal Jackson. He graduated from high school in Topeka. He moved to Concordia from Salina in 1992. Mr. Darrow was a member of Post No. 588 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 76 of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge, all in Concordia. He married Emma Jean Monty on Dec. 24, 1975, in Las Vegas. She survives. Other survivors include two stepsons, Dan Monty, Nickerson, and Bob Monty, Concordia; two stepdaughters, Janet Weston, Emporia, and Dee Ann Hobbs, Springdale, Ark.; five sisters, Joanne Reeves, Concordia, Donna Wadman, St. George, Utah, Saundra Morris and Caroline Taylor, both of Littleton, Colo., and Sally Hartzler, Ramona, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Darrow was preceded in death by his first wife, and a son, Danny Darrow. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Chapel in Concordia. Graveside services with military honors conducted by Post No. 588 of the VFW and Post No. 76 of the American Legion will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Concordia. Mr. Darrow will lie in state at the funeral chapel from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday and after 8 a.m. Monday.
