Services were held Monday, May 21, 2001 at Zion Wanda Lutheran Church in Juniata with Rev Harold King officiating. Burial with Military rites by the American Legion Kenesaw #268, was held at the Wanda Church Cemetery. **** Mr Stichweh was born October 30, 1922 in Kenesaw to Fred and Louise (Eigbrett) Stichweh. He attended grade school at Shilow County School and Zion Lutheran Parochial School-Wanda and graduated from Kenesaw High School in 1941. Orville joined the Army Air Force on January 4, 1943. He was shot down over Germany on June 20, 1944 and was a Prisoner of War until General Paton negotiated his release on April 24, 1945. Orville was a Staff Sergeant in the 856 Bomb Squadron and 492 Bomb Group. He got out of the Army on October 30, 1945. On July 28, 1945, Orville married Marilyn Aufdenkamp at the Zion Lutheran Church-Wanda. After they were married, he worked for Dutton-Lainson for five years in Hastings and then farmed from 1950 until January 1, 2001 in the Wanda area. He was a member of Zion Wanda Lutheran Church and the Kenesaw American legion #268. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Nancy (Earl) Maynard of Lincoln; sons, Tom (Pam) Stichweh of Kansas City, Missouri, and Steve (Jeannie Farquharos) Stichweh of Toronto, Canada; sisters Marie Finnigsmier of Kenesaw, Audrey Schukei of Kenesaw and Carolin Lepin, of Grand Island; brothers, Lawrence of Kenesaw and Freddie of Tempe, Arizona; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Alta.
