Obituary: Orville Olen Thompson, 84, died Mon., Nov. 17, 2003, at his home in Ft. Myers, Fla. He was born in Corydon, the son of Lew and Esther Thompson. The family moved to Sigourney when he was a boy. He married Wanda Fear in 1940 then in 1972 they moved to Kansas where he started a stucco business. He is survived by a special friend, Agnes Hartenstein; two daughters, Margery Veach of Olathe, Kan. and Gaila Van Dee of Cape Coral, Fla.; five grandchildren: eight great-grandchildren: two sisters, Thelma Keller and Veda Ewald both of What Cheer; two sisters-in-law, Pat Thompson of Sigourney and Virginia Barrett of Gravios Mills, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1992; his father-in-law, Glen Fear; five brothers, Clarence, Elvin, Richard, Donald and Fredrick. A graveside service memorial will be at a later date in Olathe, Kan. Obituary: Orville Olen Thompson, 84, of Ft. Myers, passed away November 17, 2003. He was born in Corydon, IA. on January 27, 1919 to Esther and Lewis Thompson. He was the third of six boys all deceased before him. Orville served in the Navy Seabees in WWII in the South Pacific. He served two tours overseas in his 3 years of duty. He ran a crew of cement finishers. Orville was predeceased by his wife Wanda, his 5 brothers, mother and father. He relocated from Olathe, KS. to Ft. Myers in 1995. He is survived by his two daughters, Margery Veach of Olathe, KS. and Gaila Van Dee of Cape Coral, FL., grandchildren Rhonda Hoggett, Doug Veach, Rita Howe, Tim Van Dee and Tonya Reynolds, great-grandchildren Tarin, Colton and Wyatt Hoggett, Alaina Doll, Drew Van Dee, Karry and Coy Reynolds and loving friend Agnes Hartenstein. Orville was a mentor for his 2 sons-in-law and grandsons in teaching all of them how to stucco. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at VFW Post 8463 in Cape Coral. Burial will be in Overland, KS. next to his wife Wanda. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Wayne McGahuey of Gulf Breeze, Florida.
