Description	:	Orville Robinson, 76, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Services were held Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Burial was in the Parish Cemetery. Mr. Robinson was born Aug. 17, 1932, at Cedar Rapids to William and Lona (Cox) Robinson.He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia, and a son, Marty.Survivors of the immediate family include four sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Lorrie of Genoa, Morris 'Butch' and Jan of St. Louis, Doug and Sherri of Lincoln and Dan and Leslie of McCool Junction; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marie Robinson and friend, Don Cushing, of Portland, Ore., Monica and Ed Swerczek of Cedar Rapids and Debra and Reggie Haeffner of Lincoln; and a daughter-in-law, Rochelle Robinson of Grand Island.Additional survivors include grandchildren, Freedom Steele, Aaron and Devin Robinson, Kyle and Clay Robinson, Beth, Amber and Maggie Foland, Melissa Harris, Garrett Swerczek, Luke, Bailey and Travis Robinson and Remington Haeffner; two great-grandsons, Zachary and Ethan Steele; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He attended school at Cedar Rapids. On March 3, 1953, Orville entered the United States Army where he served in the Korean War on the Motor Pool. In the Army Orville was trained as a diesel mechanic. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 17, 1955.Orville was united in marriage to Georgia Rutten on July 3, 1956, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. The couple lived and farmed southwest of Cedar Rapids.In 1975, Orville completed building a new farm house for the family. He then tore down the old farm house and built a new mechanic shop out of the salvaged lumber. In the early years, Orville and his boys ran Robinson's Custom Cattle Feeding, and he also worked as a representative for Nature Fertilizer and various feed brands. In 1985 the family moved into town, where Orville worked for IMC and Cedar Valley Feed Company and started up Robinson Farm Service shortly thereafter. Orville enjoyed shooting blue rock and spending time with his family.He was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids and a 50-year member of the Dan Cox American Legion Post 44 of Cedar Rapids. Orville was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lester Robinson; sister, Marge Cox; and infant sister, Elizabeth Robinson.
