Description	:	OBITUARY - Orville Vance Smyth, fourth son of John and Elizabeth Smyth, was born on March 11, 1858 in Madison township, Muskingum county, Ohio, and passed away on February 7, 1936, at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, Ia., after a month's illness. Mr. Smyth moved with his parents to Linn county, Iowa in 1861 and from there to Boone county in 1868 and located on a farm northwest of Ogden, where he grew to manhood. Read More	OBITUARY - Orville Vance Smyth, fourth son of John and Elizabeth Smyth, was born on March 11, 1858 in Madison township, Muskingum county, Ohio, and passed away on February 7, 1936, at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, Ia., after a month's illness. Mr. Smyth moved with his parents to Linn county, Iowa in 1861 and from there to Boone county in 1868 and located on a farm northwest of Ogden, where he grew to manhood. On April 24, 1887, he was united in marriage to Emma C. Matz by the Rev. C. J. Cramer of the German Lutheran church at Ogden, Iowa. His wife passed away on October 9, 1925. He was also in business in Ogden and Carroll. He leaves to mourn his loss, his daughter, Mrs. Jerry Hagge of Red Wing, Minn., with whom he made his home, one daughter Marie and one son, Harold, of Des Moines, Ia. One son, Bryan, preceded him in death, two sisters, Mrs. Henry Gearman of Marietta, Minn., Mrs. Marcus Jones of Ogden, Ia., two brothers, Robert Smyth of Gowrie, Ia., Douglas Smyth of Scranton, Ia., one sister Mrs. Harve Helphrey and two brothers George and Edwin, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at Lillie's funeral home at Des Moines, Iowa, Feb. 12, in charge of Rev. F. J. Weertz and later at Ogden, Iowa, by Rev. Deane Chapman, where burial was made. The pallbearers were: E. F. Rockwell, F. M. Lorenzen, Jerry Keel, Chas. White, John Pendarvis and Otto Ehlers. from Ogden Reporter 20 Feb 1936 ********* The cemetery erroneously has Orville Smith on their list, not an Orville Smyth.
