He passed away in a Sioux City hospital without recovering from paralysis, which resulted from a broken back. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home southeast of Creighton and afterward at the Zion Lutheran church, with the pastor, Rev. C.E. Schaff, officiating. The funeral was one of the largest held here in recent years, the church being unable to accommodate the many who assembled to pay a final tribute. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery. Oscar Albert Waldow was born Nov. 28, 1887 at Bancroft, Nebr. and was 51 years, three months and 11 days old at death, March 8, 1939. He was the third child of Carl and Mathilda (Wagner) Waldow. On August 30, 1915, he was united in marriage to Anna May Gumm at Benson, Minn. and to this union four children were born. They are Marjorie, Oren, Merle and Lillian, all at home. Both capable and energetic, Mr. Waldow succeeded in making his bottomland farm southeast of town one of the best yielding places in this section of the state. Even in the recent dry years, he had crop yields of as high as 50, 60 and 70 bushels. In its account of the accident which took Mr. Waldow's life, which appeared in last week's issue. The News erred in stating he stepped on the belt to prevent it being wound on the tractor pulley. What actually happened, according to his son, Oren, who was working with him when the tragic mishap occurred, was that the belt flew off the saw pulley unexpectedly and caught Mr. Waldow's leg. He was thrown into the air and fell in such a way that his back was broken near the upper part of the spinal column. Besides a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, Mr. Waldow leaves to mourn his untimely passing, his wife and the four children; his mother, Mrs. M.
