Description	:	Oscar A. (Pete) Gangstad was born February 25, 1905 at Bradgate, Ia., son of Christian and Matilda Gangstad. He passed away Saturday morning, May 6, 1972 at the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva after a lingering illness at the age of 67 years, 2 months and 11 days. He was with the Harrington Trucking Co., the G Kay Co. and... Read More	Oscar A. (Pete) Gangstad was born February 25, 1905 at Bradgate, Ia., son of Christian and Matilda Gangstad. He passed away Saturday morning, May 6, 1972 at the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva after a lingering illness at the age of 67 years, 2 months and 11 days. He spent his youth in Iowa, coming to York in the late 20's. He came to Fairmont in the middle 30's. He was married to Mary (Franzen) Delaney of Exeter, August 7, 1939, at York. He was with the Harrington Trucking Co., the G Kay Co. and later had his own truck business until his first illness in 1959, when he was forced to retire because of ill health. Pete was a man who loved life and his family. He was very fond of horses and all animals, always looking forward to the day when he could become more active. He was a patient sufferer and will be sadly missed by family and friends. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Mary of Fairmont; sons, Jerry and wife Bonita of Lincoln; Robert Delaney and wife Lorna of Golden, Col.; daughters Janyce and husband Jerome Frohlich of Coon Rapids, Ia., Bonita Qualls of Milwaukee, Wis., (who was unable to come because of sickness in her own family); 12 grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred and wife Leta, Melvin and wife Marcella of Gilmore City, Ia.; sisters Esther Geist of Fort Dodge, Ia., Mabel Sherwood of Des Moines, Ia., Annie Lennon of Manson, Ia.; many other relatives and friends. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death. He was a member of Grace United Methodist church of Fairmont, where services were held Monday, May 8, at 2 p.m., Rev Scahill officiating. Hymns sung by Mrs. Thomas Boyer were "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Breathe on Me O Breath of God," accompanied by Mrs. Jerry Galusha. Pallbearers were Gilbert Albro, Raymond Hall, Don Beavers, Alfred Jorgenson, Jerry Galusha and Art Schaldecker. Burial was in the Fairmont cemetery.
