He was born on Aug. 12, 1939, in Keokuk, the son of Albert and Dorothy McCoy Billings. On Feb. 3, 1961, he was united in marriage to Carol Sue Peterson, his loving wife for 49 years. She survives. He was born on Aug. 12, 1939, in Keokuk, the son of Albert and Dorothy McCoy Billings. On Feb. 3, 1961, he was united in marriage to Carol Sue Peterson, his loving wife for 49 years. She survives. Additional survivors include: two sons, Bruce Alan Billings and his wife, Traci Lynn, and their children Bruce "B.J." Alan Billings Jr., Nickolus Todd Billings and Gabriale "Gavvy" Lynn Billings, all of Keokuk, and Trever Brent Billings and his son, Wyatt Oscar Billings, also of Keokuk; four sisters, Janet Rossi and her companion, Whitey, of Warren, Va., Mary Smith and her husband, Carroll, of Danville, Jean Logsdon and her husband, John, of rural Argyle, and Kathy Young and her husband, Jim, of Burlington; two brothers, James Billings and his wife, Judy, of Keokuk and Kenny "Chick" Billings, also of Keokuk; six nieces; 17 nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edward Eugene Billings and Charles Wayne Billings. Oscar graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1957. He had been employed at Keokuk Ferro-Sil in the Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Department for 42 years, retiring in 2001. He was an active member and trustee of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Keokuk. He was a member of Three Rivers Tractor Club in Donnellson, the National IH Collectors Club, IH Collectors Club 5, Boy Scouts of America Troop 43 and Troop 75, Order of the Arrow, and a board member of the Scandinavian Cemetery. He also was a board member of the KEM Credit Union for the last 30 years and was presently serving as chairman of the board. He was past master of Keokuk Masonic Lodge No. 29. Oscar enjoyed tractors and camping. He was an avid NASCAR racing fan as well as a go cart crew chief. He was a loving grandfather and cherished the time he spent with his granchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Vigen Memorial Hom,e Kokuke, with the Rev. Dave Barrett officiating. Burial will be in the Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation is after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family meeting friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A public Masonic service will be at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church and the Scandinavian Cemetery.
