NEWSPAPER: DES MOINES FIRE CLAIMS THIRD LIFE DES MOINES (UP)--Oscar Brody, 60, died in a hospital Monday night of burns suffered in a fire which swept through a hotel here Sunday night. He was the third victim of the fire at the Nelson House. David E. Duckett, 67, and Ira W. Shealey, 55, were burned to death in the fire. Firemen rescued 10 or 12 other persons, many of them hanging from the fire escape or from ropes dangling from windows in the two-story brick structure. Three women were rescued from a restaurant sign where they had crawled to escape the flames. Services for Brody will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Christian church. Mr. Brody was born Feb. 18, 1897, in Urbana. He was married in 1924 to Josephine Large in Minneapolis. Survivors include two children, Lewis Brody and Blanche Reese, both of Des Moines; two grandchildren; four sisters, Ida Sawyer and Mrs. James Tilbury, both of Backus, Minn.; Ruth Primmer of Minneapolis, and Joan Lahue of Cedar Rapids and two brothers, Kin, of Alaska and Forrest, of Cedar Rapids.
