Description	:	Obituary: Oscar Clark Aker, one of the well and especially favorably known young men of this city, died at the St. Joseph hospital in Fort Wayne, at 4:30 o’clock Saturday morning, after an illness which began a week ago Friday forenoon. Read More	Obituary: Oscar Clark Aker, one of the well and especially favorably known young men of this city, died at the St. Joseph hospital in Fort Wayne, at 4:30 o’clock Saturday morning, after an illness which began a week ago Friday forenoon. He had been working with his brothers during the morning and complained of abdominal pains later in the day. His illness became more serious the next day and Sunday his condition was such that he was taken to the St. Joseph hospital about midnight for an operation. It was found that his trouble arose from what is known a Meckel’s Diverticulum, an unusually rare condition of the intestines, and a very serious one. The operation was performed and for a time he showed slight improvement, but later his condition took a turn for the worse and became very grave, ending in death at the hour named. He was a son of Charles and Jennie Clark Aker and was born in Union township on September 8, 1896. He was 25 years, 3 months and 8 days old. He attended the common schools and later graduated from the Columbia City high school, and then entered the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and was there for two years. On April 19, 1917, Oscar enlisted in the United States army and later sailed for England. On the way over he underwent an operation for appendicitis and when he reached Liverpool was stricken with pneumonia. He was honorably discharged from the service March 5, 1918. After leaving the army he worked in the office of the Goodyear Rubber company at Akron, Ohio, and then was associated in the onion business with his brothers, Lee and Fred, of this city. In addition to his parents he is survived by the two brothers mentioned, and one sister, Miss Kathrine Aker, and a half-brother, Carl Aker, and a half-sister, Mrs. Homer Krider, of Churubusco. He was a member of the American Legion and was a quiet, unassuming young man with a large circle of friends who will regret to learn of the untimely ending of a life which showed so much promise for the future. The funeral will be held Monday morning at 10:30 at the home of his parents on East Van Buren street. The remains can be viewed Sunday. No flowers.
