Read More	March 2, 1935 Page 1 - cont. page 5 OSCAR CONNICK DIES AT WINFIELD HOSPITAL --------------------- Pneumonia Takes Life of Federal Employee in This City Oscar Connick, for the past 19 years custodian of the federal building here, died at William Newton Memorial hospital at 3:05 a.m. today from pneumonia. He was 57 years old. Last October Mr. Connick contracted a heavy cold, the effects of which he was unable to throw off. During January he began suffering from attacks of pleurisy. However, he was able to continue his work until Sunday, February 17, when he was confined to his bed for the first time. Two days later he was taken to the hospital, critically ill with pleurisy and pneumonia. Most of the time for the past 41 years Mr. Connick has been a resident of Winfield. From Red Oak, Iowa, where he was born December 28, 1877, Mr. Connick as a youth 16 years old came to Winfield with relatives. With the exception of a short time spent in Oklahoma and almost one year when he was enlisted in the Spanish American War, Mr. Connick lived here continuously and it was here on April 2, 1912, that he was married to Miss Agnes Reeves, who survives him. For several years Mr. Connick was a member of the Winfield fire department, leaving that position to accept the custodianship of the new federal building when it was opened in 1916. He took particular pride in the appearance of the post office building and grounds, and spent much time keeping the federal property here in good condition. Mr. Connick was a member of the First Christian church of this city, and he was a regular attendant at the services of the church. He also held membership in the local camp of the Woodmen lodge. Besides his widow, Mr. Connick is survived by a brother, Ransom, of this city; two aunts, Mrs. Lottie Mc Michaels of Red Oak, Iowa, and Mrs. Delia Horn of Yale, Okla; two cousins, Mrs. Helen McRoberts and Claude Connick of Winfield; his uncle, Charles Connick of Winfield; a nephew, Richard Marks, and two nieces, Mrs. Velma Swander and Mrs. Vera Wilson of Winfield. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. from the First Christian church, with Rev. Percy R. Atkins, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery.
