Description	:	Oscar Edwin Munson, subject of this sketch lies peacefully at rest before us today was born in East Bloomfield, New York, December 27, 1842 to Edwin and Julia Munson. He was one of a family of thirteen children, four of who survive. The family moved to Salem, Wisconsin, when the deceased was a young boy, and there he grew to manhood. Read More	Oscar Edwin Munson, subject of this sketch lies peacefully at rest before us today was born in East Bloomfield, New York, December 27, 1842 to Edwin and Julia Munson. He was one of a family of thirteen children, four of who survive. The family moved to Salem, Wisconsin, when the deceased was a young boy, and there he grew to manhood. It was there that he responded to his county's call to save the Union, and he served three years in the South with company A First Wisconsin Cavalry. His enlistment expiring, he declined to quit the colors and re-enlisted with the navy, where he served until the close of the war. Following his homecoming following the close of hostilities, he was married on May 1, 1866, to Mary Eliza Rector of Salem, Wisconsin, with whom he lived in a happy wedlock for nearly 66 years, and who is present at the last rites for him today. To them were born eight children, two of whom died in infancy, and two sons met death by drowning near Jennings in February 1897. The following four children with the loyal and faithful wife, survive: Harry, Mark and Mrs. Edith Nelson of the home address and Mrs. Addie N. Pattee of Smith Center. All are present today at the funeral services.
