Description	:	Oscar Loe, 81, of Sioux Falls, died Friday, February 28, 2014. Oscar was born September 25, 1932 in Sioux County, IA, near Hudson, SD, son of Oscar and Ita (Schaber) Loe. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1950. He then attended the University of South Dakota where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Cum Laude 1954 and a Masters in Music in 1957. Read More	Oscar Loe, 81, of Sioux Falls, died Friday, February 28, 2014. Oscar was born September 25, 1932 in Sioux County, IA, near Hudson, SD, son of Oscar and Ita (Schaber) Loe. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1950. He then attended the University of South Dakota where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Cum Laude 1954 and a Masters in Music in 1957. He was called to active duty as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army (spent 17 months in Korea in army intelligence) and achieved rank of Captain. Following his active duty he spent many years in the Army reserves. He spent his career years as a band teacher in Scotland SD, many Sioux Falls schools and retired after 36 years at Axtell Park. After retirement he went back to school and graduated as a Licensed Minister in 1999. In addition to teaching, he played the clarinet in the Sioux Falls Municipal band for 30 years, SD Symphony for 24 years, played the saxophone in several area jazz bands, and was a director of the Post #15 Singing Legionnaires. He was proud to be a 60 year Masonic member including being a 33rd Degree Mason with the Scottish Rite, Past Worshipful Master of Jeptha Lodge #121, and Grand Organist of South Dakota Grand Lodge for 7 years. He was active in Jobs Daughters for many years holding several local, state and international offices. Survivors include his children, Kari (Michael) Janak of Sioux Falls, SD, and Robert (Valerie) Loe of Pierre, SD; grandchildren, Jordan and Dillan Janak both of Sioux Falls, Nicholas, Isaac, Emelia, and Alyssa Loe all of Pierre, SD; twin sister Ita Vellek of Atlanta, GA; brother, E. Craig (Chisako) Loe on Manasas, VA; and several nieces and nephews. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Donald Vellek. Obituary & Photo is from The Porter Funeral Home
