Rohrer had taken his own life during the night. Early in the evening he left his home saying he intended to attend a meeting of the K of P lodge. He was the K. of R.& S. of the lodge. When he did not come home, Mrs. Rohrer and daughter Helen tried to locate him. They discovered that he had not attended lodge. About four o'clock they sought the help of Marshal Parks and finally went to the office of the Buck Elevator where he worked. His overcoat was hanging there and Mrs. Rohrer found a note in his own handwriting saying "You will find my body in the Rock Island water tank." Mr. Parks sought the help of C.A. Reyman and called sheriff Kapsch. Others volunteered and when the water was let out of the tank it was found that the note told the truth. Mr. Rohrer had been manager of the Buck elevator here for several years and was rated a good grain man. He had been an officer in the K. of P. lodge for several years and was popular in the fraternity. He was usually of a jovial disposition but his closest friends had noted that he was not himself for several weeks. He was a man that was easily affected by adverse circumstances and his rash deed was done during a spell of despondency. The stricken wife and daughter have the sympathy of the entire community. The body will be taken to Beaver early tomorrow (Friday) morning for the funeral services and burial. At present it lies in state at A. F. Tutt's Undertaking parlor and will be there until eight o'clock tomorrow morning. A number of the members of the K. of P. lodge are planning to attend the funeral. Mr. Rohrer's father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Rohrer of Reasoner, and his sister, Mrs. J. E. Jensen, husband and son Bobby of Creston are here. Oscar Otis Rohrer was born near Rippey, Greene county, Iowa, October 9, 1887 and died at Laurens, February 14, 1934, at the age of 46 years, 2 months and 5 days. He grew to manhood in the Rippey community where he attended the Rippey schools, graduating from the high school there with the class of 1907. He was baptized and became a member of the M. E. Church at Rippey when 18 years of age. As a young man he located at Juanita, North Dakota in the grain and implement business, later moving to Lavinia, Iowa, where he was married to Jessie Lauder. To this union one daughter, Helen, was born. In 1924 he located in Beaver, Iowa where he engaged in the grain business and continued there until 1927 when he moved to Laurens. Otis was known by his friends and associates for his wholesome interest in all forms of athletics. He enjoyed his several lodge affiliations consisting of the Masons, Woodmen and Knights of Pythias. He leaves to mourn his parting, his wife and daughter, Jessie and Helen; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Rohrer of Reasoner; two brothers, John and Lester of Des Moines; and his sister, Mrs. A. Jensen of Creston; and many other near relatives as well as a host of loyal friends in the several cities where he has lived. Funeral services will be held at the M. E. Church in Beaver at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, February 16th. Burial will be made at Beaver.
