Hamer, who lived at 408 Belmont Ave., was born Feb 11, 1879, at Hooversville, Pa., the son of Thomas and Eliza Blough Hammer. He had resided in Waterloo since 1903, and was employed as a machinist at the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 17 years. He retired in 1952. Hamer was an elder and a minister in the Church of the Brethren. On April 23, 1905, at Hooversville, he married Florence Cripe, who preceded him in death on May 8, 1963. Hamer is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mary Lorenzen, 408 Belmont; five sons: Telford, of Rt. 1, Waterloo, Merle, Rt. 4, Carl 235 Denver, Thomas of Traer, Arlan, 425 Broadway; 16 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Carrie Knop, Mrs. Estella Brower, and Miss Maryanna Hamer, all of Rt. 1, and Mrs. Paul Winegerd, Clarence; and two brothers, Orville and Clarence of Rt. 1. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother and sister. ------------------------------- Knop was spelled Knopp in Eliza Hamer's obit.
