Heider, Walter Baumhover, and Leo Rettenmaier. Dr. Thurlimann's immediate relatives here for the services were his wife, of Harvey, IL.; his sister, Miss Leota, Thurlimann, his aunt, Miss Rosalia Thurlimann, and his uncle and aunt, Prof. and Mrs. Leo Thurlimann, of Chicago. Other relatives and friends from a distance included: Dr. and Mrs. Scarbrough, Chicago Heights; Dr. Dillon and Dr. Jansen, Homewood; Mrs. Joe Heininger, Dr. T.O. Cantwell and Dr. Fred Snyder, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Stegmeier, Mrs. Dan Van Etten and Miss Florence Schroeder, Harvey, IL.; Dr. and Mrs. Astler, Cincinnati, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. George Volz and daughter, Elizabeth, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Volz, Elkhart, Ia.; Dr. and Mrs. Arden Kessler, Akron, Miss Lillian Kessler, Sioux City; and Mr. and Mrs. Will Fritz, Fergus Falls, Minn. Requiem high mass had been read at the Cathedral in Duluth Wednesday morning before the body was brought to Dr. Thurlimann's old home for burial beside his father and mother. The body arrived in Carroll early Thursday morning and was taken to the Gregory Funeral Home where it lay in state until the hour of final services. Many relatives, former neighbors, and other old friends gathered at the funeral home to accompany the cortege to the cemetery. Dr. Thurlimann died at Duluth, where he had gone to visit friends while recuperating from an illness which began with pneumonia in the early summer and was followed by mastoid trouble for which he underwent an operation. While at Duluth he suddenly became seriously ill from an abscess on the brain. He went into a coma in which he lingered for a few days before his death.
