He was born March 28, 1908, at Star City and was the son of the late Joseph Lee Burns and Dona Majors Burns. He was reared and educated at Star City. He lived at Pine Bluff for several years before moving to Jefferson in 1977. He was a biological technician at the Pine Bluff Arsenal, where he retired, after 25 years, in 1973. He was a member of the White Sulphur Masonic Lodge 122, the White Sulphur Eastern Star and the Sahara Shrine Temple. He was also a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrdis Youngblood Burns, whom he married November 6, 1977; four daughters, Mrs. Darlene Appleberry of Pine Bluff, Mrs. Allen Brown of Granbury, Texas, Mrs. James L. Sparks of Little Rock and Mrs. T. V. Hughes of Fayetteville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Louis Hamilton of Pine Bluff; a stepson, Lloyd Youngblood of Jefferson; two brothers, Joseph H. Burns of Las Vegas and W. V. Burns of Star City; 15 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Ralph Robinson & Son Mortuary of Pine Bluff.
