He was born January 11, 1933, at Clark County, Missouri, the son of Eugene Paul and Ella M. Shuler Jenkins. He married Edith Dietsch Barnes, June 22, 1963, at Kahoka, Missouri. She survives. Jenkins, 66, Farmington, died at 4 p.m. Friday, November 12, 1999, at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua. He was born January 11, 1933, at Clark County, Missouri, the son of Eugene Paul and Ella M. Shuler Jenkins. He married Edith Dietsch Barnes, June 22, 1963, at Kahoka, Missouri. She survives. He spent 24 years in the military and retired as Equipment Operator Master Chief from the U.S. Navy Seabees. After retiring to Farmington, he was a mechanic. He was a member of the Farmington American Legion and CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation. Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, Perry, Jim and Tommy, all of Farmington and Cecil, Fort Madison; two daughters, Cheryl Hootman and Colleen Treece, both of Farmington; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Carroll, Santee, California, James Ervin, Farmington and Melvin, Davenport and three sisters, Marie Toothacre, Aguanga, California, Nelma Hammond, Jacksonville, Arkansas and Vickie Randolph, Bonaparte. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services, with military rites by the Farmington American Legion were held Tuesday, November 17, at the Hofbauer Home, Farmington, with Robert Hambright officiated. His body will be cremated following the funeral services and the cremains will be buried in the Bonaparte Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established for the Farmington EMT's and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
