Korte, 65, Rt. 1, Columbus, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the family home and at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran church. The Rev. Martin Borneman, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Christ Lutheran cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral chapel from 11 a.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday when it will be taken to the family home, there to lie in state until the services. Mr. Korte, a lifetime resident of Platte county, died suddenly of a heart attack about 8:45 a.m. Thursday at his farm home in Sherman township. Son of the late Carl and Elise Viergutz Korte, he was born in Sherman township on June 13, 1889 and received his education at Christ Lutheran school. He married Bertha Grotelueschen on Jan. 25, 1914 at Christ Lutheran church. Since his marriage he farmed in Sherman township. A member of Christ Lutheran church, Mr. Korte was currently serving his first term as an elder. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran school board from 1926 to 1952 and was a past president of the Laymen’s League in which he currently held the office of treasurer. Mr. Korte had served on the Sherman township board as justice of the peace since 1939. He is survived by his wife; daughter, Mrs. Herbert (Henrietta) Wilke and three sons, Paul, Walter and Vernon, all of Columbus; two brothers, Ernest of Columbus and Arthur of Fremont; three sisters, Mrs. Emil H. (Ella) Wilke and Mrs. Frieda Bakenhus of Columbus, Mrs. Arthur (Anna) Marty of Leigh; and eight grandchildren. His parents and brother, Walter, preceded him in death. per DON
