Description	:	Otto Geick, son of C.F.W. Geick and his wife Henrietta nee Rogman, was born on the 8th day of June 1874, in Wheeler Township, Lyon County, Iowa, as one of twins, the other twin brother, Frederic by name, died when five years and seven months old. Otto Geick, was baptized the 17th of July the same year of his birth by the Evangelical Lutheran pastor, Theodore Martens. Geick and his wife Henrietta nee Rogman, was born on the 8th day of June 1874, in Wheeler Township, Lyon County, Iowa, as one of twins, the other twin brother, Frederic by name, died when five years and seven months old. Otto Geick, was baptized the 17th of July the same year of his birth by the Evangelical Lutheran pastor, Theodore Martens. He was confirmed in the same faith by Reverend William Bastke of Boyden on the 22nd day of March 1891. On the 11th day of March 1903, he married Miss Cora B. Lewis. They had five children, three boys and two girls. They first farmed on the Lewis place for one year, then moved on the farm which was at the time owned by Christ Rudiplf, there they lived one year, the next year and a half they were farming on the Mullhal place further up north in Lyon County. While at that place, his sickness set in. The cause of his so untimely death seems to have been different kinds of sickness, some senories of the liver, also locomotors ataxia and poor blood. While he had not felt well for quite a considerable length of time, he became seriously sick and broken down about the 15th of July 1915. He had to suffer a very great deal, but he seemed to bear it with great patience when he became helpless as a child and his family had to move him around every now and then so he could endure his hard pains. From the 30th of September till the 30th of November of last year he was with his parents at Rock Rapids, as they thought he could there in town have better care and nursing than in the country. At the end of November, however, he became so longing for his family that they had to move him back to the home they occupied on the Lewis farm. Before he had come to his parents, last fall, he received the Lord’s Supper from Reverend Classen of Rock Rapids. The minister of the gospel as well as Reverend Gossinger of the same place, as I am told, often made visits at his sick bed, while being in Rock Rapids and in the neighborhood and he seemed to be thankful for they offered him out of God’s eternal word. When I made my last visit to him on the Lewis place, he was more or less unconscious, it being last Friday afternoon, but he was still able to confess his faith in his Savoir Jesus Christ. He departed from this life Sunday January 23rd, at seven o’clock in the evening, attaining the age of only 41 years, 7 months and 25 days. The mourning survivors are his wife, Cora B. nee Lewis; his three sons, Marvin, Henry and Christ; his two daughters, Martha and Hulda; his parents-in-law, George and Martha Lewis, his four brothers, Henry, Christ, Herman and William, his one sister, Amanda Ossenfort, and many other relatives and friends. May the God and author of all consolation be with the bereaved family. The funeral was held Wednesday, January 28th, in the afternoon. At the house on the Lewis place. Reverend Claasen of Rock Rapids, spoke a prayer and he and Reverend P.J. Bunge conducted the services, in English and in German at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and his mortal remains were laid to rest at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, near the Church in Lincoln Township, Sioux County, Iowa. Though the roads were filled with snow, many relatives and friends were present to pay the last sad tribute of love and regard. The Messrs. Henry Meyer, Otto Hinsch, William Karsten, Peter and William Winter and Henry Hinsch were pallbearers.
