It is understood that the remains will be brought to his old home for interment. ***** Bloomfield Democrat, April 11, 1924 One of the saddest funerals ever held in Davis county was tht of Otto Law, son of Mr. and Mrs. Valores (sp) Law, which was conducted from the family home at Troy last Thursday. Mr. Law, only 25 years of age, met his untimely end at the hands of bandits in a little Montana town just a few days before. Mr. Law was residing on a ranch in Montana where he had been employed since last July. He had just completed arrangements to join his brother at Kent, Ohio, where the latter is engaged in business, and was waiting on the station platform for a train to take him to that place when he was assaulted and robbed of all his valuables with the exception of his watch. His assailants then took his weakened and helpless body and laid it on the railroad track where it was run over by a train and horribly mangled on the morning of March 29th, just before dawn. The funeral services at the home was largely attended by those who came to share the grief of the relatives. Rev. Trostle of the the Troy M.E. church officiated and the body was laid to rest in the cemetery nearby to await the dawn of the resurrection morning when the spirits of all just men shall be made perfect. This affair had an added element of sorrow because that the deceased was to soon be married, the date being set for April 15th, and therefore all hopes of a happy home were shattered by death. Mr. Law will long be remembered by those who knew him best for his unswerving fidelity and obedience as a son. He was generous to a fault, ever putting the interests of those whom he held dear above his own. Absolute honesty and untiring industry were sacred to him. He was a friend to man and the brief span of his life was blessed with many singularly loyal friendships in return. At his death he stood on the threshold of the realization of his most cherished dreams. In addition to his father and mother he leaves two brother, Orvie B. Law of Kent, Ohio and George Law of Troy, Iowa, four sisters, Mrs. Lora Spurlin of Quincy, Ill., Mrs. Hazel Richardson of Rutland, Ia., Miss Mildred Law of Des Moines and Mrs. Audrey Harryman of Douds, Ia., all of whom were present at the funeral except Mrs. Richardson, who was detained on account of the illness of a child. Mr. Law was born at Troy, Ia., on July 18, 1898 and his death occurred at Laurel, Montana, MMarch 29th, at the age of 25 years, 8 months and 11 days.
