Mr. Mangels was admitted to the hospital May 6 and while despondent to begin with lately had shown so much improvement he had been given ground privileges. Otto William Frederick Mangels was born near Clinton, Ia., October 7, 1882. There he grew to manhood and took up farming as his life's work. December 6, 1911 he was married to Alvenna Boege. In 1918 the family moved to a farm north of here which was their home till last February. From there they moved to Missouri, but remained only a few months, returning here several weeks ago. Those surviving are his wife, two daughters, Lilly and Gladys and a son, Elmer; two brothers, John of Sutherland, Ia. and Henry of Pomona, Calif.; and four sisters, Clara Nissen of Plainview, Bessie Williams of Pringhar, Ia., Alvenna Peterson of San Bernardino, Calif. and Lilly Elsberry of Brunswick. A son, William, died in infancy. Other relatives and a host of friends also mourn his demise. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church, with the pastor, Rev. D.S. Bornemeier, in charge. The pallbearers were O.B. Ellingson, John Neyens, Fred Filter, N.N. Rhodes, Emil Schroeder and C.C. Kimble. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery.
