Read More	Goad Funeral Home Dec 15, 2009 Ovaleta Holder Gibbs, 91, formerly of Scottsville, Ky died peacefully Saturday, December 12, 2009, at The Gardens of Roswell in Alpharetta, Georgia, with her daughter, Dianna, beside her. Allen County, Ky was where she was born, grew up, raised her family, and lived all but the last few years of her life, and she always considered it "home". She graduated from Western Kentucky State College in 1961, and was extremely proud to be a teacher in the Allen County School System for 27 years. She spent most of those years teaching and learning with first graders, and she loved to share that fact with everyone she met throughout her life. She once calculated that she had worked with at least one thousand young students, even if you didn't count her 17 years as a substitute teacher following her retirement. Nothing gave her more satisfaction than learning that one of her students had made teaching their own career. Often, upon hearing good news about one of her former students, she would have a story to share about them when they were in her classroom. She was a member of Holland Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, quilting, and she was a wonderful cook. She was the eldest child of Theodore Holder and Lola Crowder Holder. She was the wife of the late Ernest C. Gibbs, who predeceased her after 56 years of marriage. She is survived by 1 daughter: Dianna Voll and husband, David, Alpharetta, Ga; 3 granddaughters: Angela Martin and husband, Craig, Springfield, Tn, Hope Turner, Nashville, Tn, and Staci Wegmann and husband, Erick, Houston, Tx; 1 grandson: Dave Voll and wife, Martha, Louisville, Ky; 5 great grandsons in whom she delighted: Calister, Alex, and Will Turner, Conner Martin, and Blake Wegmann. She was preceded in death by 1 son: Donald Gibbs; 1 grandson: Todd Gibbs; 1 brother: John A. Holder; 2 sisters: Monzell Holder and Dean Holder Stovall. Funeral services for Ovaleta Holder Gibbs will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Holland Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Charlie Ausbrooks and Bro. Travis Smith officiating with burial in church cemetery.
