Overton, the son of Overton Brown Burns, Sr., and Jimmie Eula Britt Burns was born on November 18, 1955, in Leesville, Louisiana. He passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2011, in Alexandria, LA. Overton was a man of deep faith in God. His love for Jesus Christ began when he was a young boy and was taught the Bible by his parents, Grandmother Eula Britt, Sunday School teachers, and family. He was a life - long member of East Leesville Baptist Church serving God and his Church in many different capacities over the years. Overton actively studied the Bible and enjoyed teaching his adult Sunday School Class. Overton was known to his family and close friends as having a passion for learning. As a young child, he set a personal goal to learn a new word each day and, most importantly, use that word daily. He was an avid reader of history and politics and enjoyed debating any topic. Overton was known for his honesty and integrity, both personally and professionally. He encouraged and challenged his three children to obtain higher education and always listen to God's plan for them. Overton was a family-centered man. He was proud of his children's accomplishments and he easily expressed his pride. Overton's fourteen month old granddaughter brought him tremendous joy. His beloved wife was always loving and supportive. Overton was a compassionate advocate for the disabled. He worked for the Social Security Administration for 17 years before opening his business in Leesville to serve the disabled of Louisiana, Texas, and other states. His extensive knowledge of Social Security disability allowed him to successfully represent thousands at disability hearings during the past fifteen years. He is survived by his wife of 26 years Lyn Burns of Leesville; son, Chase Overton Burns of Leesville; daughters, Amanda Hearndon and husband Timothy of Leesville & Tera Burns of Arlington, TX; mother, Jimmie Burns of Leesville; sisters, Ellen Mount & husband Ben of Leesville, Cheri Burns of Leesville & Barbara Celiz & husband, Lee of Ft. Worth, TX and granddaughter, Isabella Hearndon. Services were under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
