Description	:	Overton Otto Thompson, 72, of Alderson died in a Beckley hospital Friday morning. Death was attributed to a heart attack. He was a retired miner and attended the Griffith's Creek Baptist Church. Born in Summers County, May 11, 1896, he was the son of the late Douglas B. and Lucy May Lilly Thompson. Survivors include his wife Melba Blanche Thompson; eight sons William D. of Cleveland, Ohio, Charles C. (sic), David L. and Bernard F. all of Alderson, Robert C. of Hampton, Va., Ronald O. of Amarillo, Texas, and John B. and Gary W. of Alderson; three daughters, Miss Oma Jean Thompson of Rich Creek, Va., Mrs. Carol Hudisill of Talcott and Mrs. Margaret Angell of Hinton; two brothers D. D. of Prince and A. A: Thompson of Beckley; and two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Light of Mount Hope and Mrs. Pauline Oatridge of Oak Hill. Thompson and all of his eight sons have served in the Army. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Griffith's Creek Baptst Church with Rev. Mark Farren and Rev. Billy Apostolon in charge. Burial will be in the Alderson Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the funeral from Lobban Funeral Home in Alderson. Military graveside rites will be conducted by members of the National Guard at Hinton.
