Description	:	Oveta Jo Earls Moss was born to Leroy Barron Earls and Carole Marcella Gosnell Earls on April 15, 1955. Known by all who knew her as Cici because she was the oldest daughter of their 12 children. Growing up she lived in Blacksburg SC and Clinton SC. Read More	Oveta Jo Earls Moss was born to Leroy Barron Earls and Carole Marcella Gosnell Earls on April 15, 1955. Known by all who knew her as Cici because she was the oldest daughter of their 12 children. Growing up she lived in Blacksburg SC and Clinton SC. Cici married her husband Ed Moss on February 1st 1975 at the home of her parents. She spent the next 38 years in Gaffney SC. Cici was blessed with 5 children and 14 grandchildren. Cici had a love of family history and enjoyed going to cemetery's and doing research for her family and for others. Cici put her love of genealogy to work for her when she started working at the Cherokee County Public Library in the local history room where she worked for over 10 years. Cici was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed the calling she had in the nursery. In the summer of 2012 Cici was diagnosed with stage 4 uterine cancer. Even with this life changing event she did not allow it to diminish her loving and caring spirit. Cici passed away 1 year after her diagnoses on June 13 2013 on what would have been her mothers 82nd birthday. Originally posted in the Gaffney Ledger June 14, 2013 Oveta J. (Cici) Earls Moss, 58, of 115 Gaffney Ave., Gaffney, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, at her residence. Born in Gaffney, Mrs. Moss was the wife of George Edward "Ed" Moss of the home and daughter of the late Leroy Barron Earls, Sr. and Carole Marcella Gosnell Earls. She retired as a genealogist at the Cherokee County library and was a local historian. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she was a staff member of the Family History Center of the church. She was a member of the Cherokee County Coin Club. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Moss is survived by three sons, Joseph E. E. Moss and wife, Heidi Wooden, of Cowpens, George E. Moss II and wife, Caroline Black, of Gaffney, and David Lee Moss and wife, Dorothy Fowler, of Gaffney; two daughters, Ella J. Moss Griffiths and husband, Jason, of Kingsport, Tenn., and Mary Ada E. Moss Oxford and husband, Josh, of Gaffney; six brothers, David and Myrtle Earls, of Blacksburg, Barry Earls and wife, Stephanie, of Gaffney, Danny Earls of Gastonia, Gregory Earls and wife, Heather, of Utah, Jeramy Earls of Blacksburg, and LeGrande "Bo" Earls and wife, Susan, of American Fork, Utah; five sisters, Jodi Earls Ray of Blacksburg, Laura Earls Sansing and husband, Tom, of Blacksburg, Teresa Earls Cerny and husband, Carlton, of Blacksburg, Donnita Earls Braniff of Blacksburg, and Alexandrea Earls Bennett and husband, Mark, of Syracuse, Utah; and 13 grandchildren, Stephen Joseph Moss, Melissa Nichole Moss, Jared Brent Moss, Cody Brigham Moss, Jocelyn Elizabeth Moss-Griffiths, Caitlin Rose Moss, Caleb Steven Moss, Donnita Kay Moss, Mary Ann Ember Moss, Benjamin Leroy Moss, Emma Jay Oxford, Annabelle Lei Oxford, and Taylor NiKole Oxford. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moss was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Erin Guinevere Moss, and a brother-in-law, Christopher Joseph Patrick Braniff. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 15, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary in Blacksburg. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 16, at 4 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on West Buford Street in Gaffney with Bishop Brian Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens in Blacksburg Pallbearers will be Stephen Moss, Thomas Sansing, Willie Earls, Jacob Earls, Matthew Earls, Jimmy Warren, Alan Cerny, and Kaleb Earls. The family will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Cici Moss Funeral Fund, c/o Gordon Mortuary, P.O.
