Chestnut St., died at 1:18 p.m. Friday at Salem Community Hospital Emergency Room, following a sudden illness. Born April 9, 1911, in Lisbon, he was the son of the late ORVAL E. and LORRAINE MORROW MASON. He lived in this area all of his life. He was an insurance agent for Farm Bureau and the Nationwide Insurance Company for 29 years, retiring in 1976. Prior to that he had worked as a metallurgist at Jones and Laughlin in Aliquippa, Pa., and was a foreman at National Brass and Copper Company in Lisbon. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army. He was a 1929 graduate of Lisbon High School, and a 1933 graduate of the College of Wooster. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lisbon, and served as an elder of the church for 50 years. He was a member the VFW Wilfred Clunk Post 4111, American Legion John J. Welsh Post 275, past president of the Lisbon Kiwanis Club, past master of New Lisbon Lodge, 65 F & AM, New Lisbon Chapter 92 RAM, Iva Chapter 311 of Order of Eastern Star, Lisbon Coon Hunters Club, Columbiana County Farm Bureau, Lisbon Historical Society, National Rifle Association, National Wildlife Federation and Valley View Hunt Club. He was preceded in death on Jan. 27, 1976, by his first wife, BETTY LEE FRANCIS MASON, whom he married in October 1943. He is survived by his second wife, GENEVIEVE SEXTON, whom he married June 26, 1976. He is also survived by one son, JEROME M. MASON, of Solon, Ohio; one daughter, JENNIFER JEAN ARNOLD, of Lisbon; two step-daughters, GEORGEANNE WOLF, of Salem; and NANCY SEXTON of Ivel, Ky., and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Weber Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce D. Williams of the church officiating. Masonic services will be 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery.
