Description	:	Owen E. Christensen, 89, of Montrose died at his home. Born in Montrose, he was the son of Egner and Carrie Sprott Christensen. In 1941, he married Mary Katherine Houghton in Hamilton, Mo. He was a graduate of Montrose High School. He attended Iowa State University where he studied engineering, and later took courses at Quincy Business College. Born in Montrose, he was the son of Egner and Carrie Sprott Christensen. In 1941, he married Mary Katherine Houghton in Hamilton, Mo. He was a graduate of Montrose High School. He attended Iowa State University where he studied engineering, and later took courses at Quincy Business College. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in the 8th Air Force in England as a photo reconnaissance technician. When he returned in 1945, he moved to Quincy, where he was business manager for Selby Implement Co. He later pursued engineering with Barnes Engineering in Rockford, Ill. He retired from Honeywell in Minneapolis in 1976, after 20 years of service. He helped design the hand controls of the Lunar Rover for the first two landings on the moon. He served as a deacon at Hope Presbyterian Church in Richfield, Minn. He was a member of the Lions Club of Montrose and the Montrose Presbyterian Church. He and his wife spent many winters on the Florida coast and enjoyed numerous trips abroad. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara MacLeish of Minneapolis and Karen Christensen of Greensboro, NC.; one son, Thomas Christensen, of Nashville; and three grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Montrose Presbyterian Church.
