Description	:	Owen was the son of: Nathaniel Franklin Taylor(1824 KY - 1883 IA) and Anna Mariah Miller(Campbell)(Wyatt)Taylor (1835 PA - 1874 IA.) In 1874 at age 4, his mother died. In 1880 at age 10 Owen worked on the farm of his half-sister Caroline J. Taylor and her husband Willie Ballard. At age 13 his father, Nathaniel Franklin Taylor died on May 3, 1883 in Correctionville, IA. John E.D Taylor was the son of Nathaniel and Eveline. After the death and shortly before Nathaniel Franklin Taylor's death the sons (including Owen) worked on farms mostly for their board and room during the winter months then for wages during the rest of the year. During the year of 1887, at age 17, the younger brothers lived with the older brother , John E.D. Taylor who had bought a farm of College land in Section 6, Little Sioux Township, Woodbury Co., Iowa known as College Corners. The E.D Taylor family continued to live on the John E.D. Taylor family farm . They moved to another farm and shortly thereafter John E.D. Taylor moved to Larned, Kansas. Where he married Emma Anna Johnson, Sept 28, 1890. Arthur moved to Oklahoma, and never married. Walter Llewellyn Taylor married Mary O'Connell. Walter and Mary O'Connell Taylor moved to Bonesteel, SD in Feb. 1904. In 1900 Owen, age 30, married Alice Minerva Kellogg in Anthon, Iowa. They made their home in Liberty Township, Plymouth County, Iowa until 1936 when they moved to San Diego, California. Owen worked as a farmer in Iowa. Their children were: Geneva Lavina Taylor (1903 IA- 1974 Salem,OR.), Erma Maria Taylor (1908 IA - 2000 Salem,OR., Glenn L. Taylor (1909 IA - 1988 San Diego,CA,), Myron "Mike" Nathaniel Taylor (1913 IA - 1983 Little Sioux,Iowa,Woodbury County.). Brothers: Arthur Taylor moved to Oklahoma; Walter Llewellyn Taylor and wife Mary O'Connell moved to Bonesteel, South Dakota. From: Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, January 17, 1947: Former Merrill Man Died In San Diego Monday, January 13 Owen Taylor, 76, San Diego Cal., resident of Iowa for 66 years died Monday at San Diego after a long illness. Mr. Taylor was born November 23, 1870, At Tama county. In 1909 he removed to a farm west of Merrill. He retired from farming and moved to San Diego in 1936. Survivors include the widow, Alice; two daughters, Mrs. Tom Taylor of Sioux City and Mrs. Samuel Gibson of San Diego; a sister, Mrs. Uzillah Showen of Minco, Okla.; three brothers, Arthur of Oklahoma, Walter of Bonsteel, S. D„ and Edwin of Billings, Mont., and six grandchildren. [Descendants of Owen Taylor (1870-1947) and Alice Minerva Kellogg Taylor (1877-1960) are at risk for Acute Myeloid Leukemia with MLL rearrangement. One of their sons, Glenn L. Taylor (1909-1988) and one of their daughters, Geneva L. Taylor Gibson (1903-1974) died of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. One grandson (Lloyd Taylor 1943-) has AML with MLL rearrangement. This is a genetic transmitted disease. Other descendants are at risk and should have their CDC blood checked annually for platelet, white blood cell, and red blood cell abnormalities out of normal range. If found, a bone marrow biopsy is called for. City of Hope Hospital in Duarte, CA is one of the best Leukemia specialty hospitals. They should do the biopsy.] .
