Description	:	Pamelia was the daughter of John W. Smith and Rachel Walton. Before 1853 she married Jacob Shattuck Newell, son of Charles Newell and Hannah Chandler Shattuck. His 1st wife was Marinda Grapes, who may have died about 1850. Their children were Harriet, Irving W, Mark S, and twins Albert J. & Arthur M. Jacob also had a son Chester R. Newell with Marinda Grapes in 1850. He can't be found in 1860 or 1870, which is another reason I queston if Marinda actually died in 1850. Chester isn't found again until after his 1st... Read More	Pamelia was the daughter of John W. Smith and Rachel Walton. Before 1853 she married Jacob Shattuck Newell, son of Charles Newell and Hannah Chandler Shattuck. His 1st wife was Marinda Grapes, who may have died about 1850. Their children were Harriet, Irving W, Mark S, and twins Albert J. & Arthur M. Jacob also had a son Chester R. Newell with Marinda Grapes in 1850. He can't be found in 1860 or 1870, which is another reason I queston if Marinda actually died in 1850. Chester isn't found again until after his 1st marriage about 1870-71. Age: 71yrs 7mos 13dys Cause of Death: Heart Disease Note on Parents: Her mother, Rachel, died in Dummer on Nov 4, 1869, but her burial place was not listed. Her father apparently died by 1839, no record of that. Where it gets confusing is everyone has Rachel Walton marrying an Isaac Eastman abt 1814 in Mexico, ME and having a son George Washington Eastman in 1815. Then in 1815 she supposedly married a Benjamin Bragdon in Rumford, ME and had an unknown son in 1816. Then in May 1818 or 1819 in Shipton, Canada they have that a Rachel Walton Bragdon married a John W. Smith. They list their children as Ephraim Putnam, Hannah, Sylvester Jones, Jacob, Pamelia, Uriah, Sarah, and Vesta Adalaide Smith... and that her husband died either in 1839 or in 1844. Now it gets really confusing when in 1850 Rachel Smith is living in Mexico, ME with son George W. Eastman, his wife Dorothy (Putnam) & 4 children... along with Dorothy's sister Cynthia B. Putnam with her 4 children (named Putnam but later named Eastman... apparently George was the father of all 8 children and later married or not Cynthia). George and his wives all moved to Utah, joined the LDS, and are all buried in Eastman Cemetery in Utah. In 1875 Ruth Walton was buried in Bountiful Memorial Park in Utah as Ruth Walton Putnam, and mother of Dorothy & Cynthia Putnam. Some have confused these two women. Rachel was the mother of George W. Eastman... and her sister Ruth was the mother of Dorothy & Cynthia Putnam (and 10 other children). The mind plays tricks on you when Rachel marries Isaac Eastman... and Ruth married Israel Putnam and after a while Rachel looks like Ruth and Isaac looks like Israel. Just some traps to watch out for, especially when your brain is tired. This is what Ruth's bio says: "Married Israel Putnam in 1805.Israel was born 31 March 1776 in Rumford,Oxford ,Maine and died 24 October 1845 the same town.Burial place not found , yet.12 children. Ruth was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and came west across the plains with the saints.She lived in the Bear Lake Valley for years then came to live with her daughter in Davis County."
