David and Parthena had seven children, 6 boys and 1 girl. Children: Benjamin Punchard, Isaac Newton, Samuel David, Leonard Beecher, Harriett Whittier, Edward Cuyler, and Thomas William. David was a traveling preacher, spreading the gospel in the settlements of Missouri. Many of his children became missionaries or preachers. The family moved to Sidney, Iowa, in 1853.
