Description	:	Patience Easton was born November 20, 1655 the daughter of Peter and Ann Coggeshall Easton. The Eastons were Quakers and early leaders of progressive Rhode Island. Nicholas Easton, Peter's father and Patience's grandfather, was President of Providence Plantation from 1650 to 1651 and in 1654 and Governor of the united colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations in 1672. John Easton, Peter's brother and Patience's uncle, was Governor from 1690 to 1695. Read More	Patience Easton was born November 20, 1655 the daughter of Peter and Ann Coggeshall Easton. The Eastons were Quakers and early leaders of progressive Rhode Island. Nicholas Easton, Peter's father and Patience's grandfather, was President of Providence Plantation from 1650 to 1651 and in 1654 and Governor of the united colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations in 1672. John Easton, Peter's brother and Patience's uncle, was Governor from 1690 to 1695. Patience's brothers, also named Nicholas and Peter Easton, began manumitting or liberating their slaves in the 1670's. Patience first married Robert Malines, who died August 31, 1679, leaving her a widow. Patience remarried to Dr. Thomas Rodman, Sr., son of John Rodman, an early Quaker who was banished in 1654 from New Ross, Ireland for refusing to remove his hat in the assizes (court). He went, with his wife and son Thomas, to Barbadoes. Thomas later immigrated to Rhode Island. Thomas and Patience had two children: 1) Thomas Rodman, Jr., born November 11, 1683 in Newport, Rhode Island; died about 1775 in South Kingston, Rhode Island and 2)Anne Rodman, born November 16, 1686 in Newport, Rhode Island; died June 25, 1714 at age 29. Patience Rodman died September 21, 1690. Thomas remarried to Hannah Clarke. Both Patience and Hannah are buried with Thomas in Cifton Burying Ground.
